goodreads Choice Awards 2022

goodreads is the most prominent public book database in the literature industry, worldwide. In addition to storing data related to the oldest and newest book publications in numerous languages, it also serves as the most popular social media platform for authors and readers, alike.
Every year, goodreads gives its users the opportunity to vote for their favourite books. Starting in November and continuing through to December, nominations are open for readers to vote for whom they believe should be the winners of 17 categories. Once voting closes, the team at goodreads tallies the numbers to see who the winners are of that year. This is a prestigious award in the modern literature space, as it indicates which authors and books were most successful in engaging their readers around the globe.

The reason why this is so exciting for language learners is that this allows them to more easily find books written in their target language that they will most likely enjoy. It can be a difficult task to find good books written in English if a person is not living in an anglophone culture, or their local bookstores and libraries do not feature any English-language literature. As such, the annual goodreads Choice Awards acts as a great opportunity for English-language learners, among other learners of different languages, to find captivating books to help them practice and improve their reading comprehension skills.
