Hollywood favourite Anne Hathaway produces and stars in the film adaptation of Robinne Lee’s novel, “The Idea of You.” Originally a piece of Harry Styles fan fiction, this book became so popular in romance circles that it has now made its way onto the small screen via Amazon Prime Video. While consumers unfamiliar with this story might consider it just another cliché tale of love, such is simply not true.
STORY LINE
“The Idea of You” contains a plot that centres on a 40-year-old art gallery owner who is navigating healing after divorce, while also coming to understand her new identity as a single mother and woman. It explores profound themes of relationship with the self, societal expectations on love, including the layered difficulties one faces in letting go. It is a tender film with organic humour and realistic relational concerns.
