“The Santa Clauses” is a new limited series on Disney+ that was released in mid-November of this year. It serves not only as another Christmassy production of the platform, but also as the fourth instalment of a pre-existing Christmas movie trilogy, starring Tim Allen: "The Christmas Clause” (1994), “The Christmas Clause 2” (2002), “The Christmas Clause 3: The Escape Clause” (2006).

As part of a family film franchise, this show is perfect for any age; however, in the context of learning English, it is ideal for upper-intermediate to fluent speakers and learners of the language. This is due largely in part to the show’s relatively simple plot line that has both a superficial appeal and one of linguistic and cultural depth.

WHAT TO LEARN:

This show covers vocabulary related to Christmas, Christmas legend, informal language, American humour, puns and play-on-words, idioms, neologisms, innuendo, references to American culture and society, relationships (parent-child, marriage, colleagues, community), parenting, change, aging, problem solving, business, retirement, and much more…!
