Every second Sunday of May is a national holiday in Canada called, "Mother’s Day.” This holiday is a day dedicated to celebrating all biological and adoptive mothers, including grandmothers and other mother-like figures. Across the country, Canadians will be spending time with the mothers in their lives, doing all sorts of activities to show them their appreciation: going out for brunch or dinner, attending a high tea, making a special meal, going to a spa, going shopping, going to see a movie, visiting a home or grave, going for a walk, having a phone or video call, etc. Generally speaking, during these festivities cards and gifts are bestowed to the mother. Gifts may range from a bouquet of flowers to an object that represents an interest of the mother.
